My family's last string of hope?
Hi everyone,
I stumbled upon this forum and it is somewhat of a last string of hope for me.
Although I am probably missing some detail, since I am not quite sure of the full story, but I am hoping that someone out there can help me.
My family moved to the US in 1994. Within 2 years, my mother passed her NCLEX test and we had our I-485 processed and approved. My mother has the education background and EVERYTHING but she has not been able to pass the IELTS test. She has been getting 6.0 to 6.5 on the overall and same for the speaking portion for the past year or so.
But about 2 years ago, we received a notice stating that we must be present for a immigration court hearing and since then we have been going back every 3 or 6 months in front of the immigration judge. It was going ok, as in the fact that the judge was just rescheduling us for every 3 to 6 months letting my mom continue taking the test. But January of 2009 we were assigned a new judge because our past judge retired. The new judge gave us an ultimatum stating that my mom needs to pass the test by end of June 29th of 2009 or we should file for voluntary departure. The date was moved to October 13, 2009 by the judge for reasons I am not sure of.
My mom still has yet to pass the test, but I am wondering if there are any ways we can plea to the judge to have more time for my mother to pass the test.
I have spent my whole life here, and living in the US is all I know.
I hope that someone can have a suggestion for me.
As I said, this is my family's last string of hope.
Hi,
I feel sad after reading your story. The situation that you are in right now is really difficult. I am just wondering if you have an immigration lawyer. If none, you may have friends who can recommend you a good one.
I believe that an immigration lawyer is the best person to answer your queries. I really pray that your situation will be resolved soon.
Regards,
Grace
