Interestingly though, the US national threat level is still yellow (elevated) as has been that way for some time since 9/11 but I could not recall seeing specifically in the DHS website that US flights (Int'l and domestic) are Orange (high risk) and this was just updated very recently on Sept. 22.
Also, the 2 bulletins never mentions flights to be one of the targets. Of course, U.S. flights should always be strongly considered for obvious reasons.
Everyone in the U.S., be safe.
Current Threat Level
- The United States government's national threat level is Elevated, or Yellow.
- For all domestic and international flights, the U.S. threat level is High, or Orange. See the Transportation Security Administration for up-to-date information on items permitted and prohibited on airlines.
Stadiums, Hotels Warned to Watch for Terrorists
Excerpts:
Counterterrorism officials have issued security bulletins to police around the nation about terrorist interest in attacking stadiums, entertainment complexes and hotels — the latest in a flurry of such internal warnings as investigators chase a possible bomb plot in Denver and New York.
In the two bulletins — sent to police departments Monday and obtained by The Associated Press — officials said they know of no specific plots against such sites, but urged law enforcement and private companies to be vigilant. These two bulletins followed on the heels of a similar warning about the vulnerabilities of mass transit systems.
The bulletin on stadiums notes that an al-Qaida training manual specifically lists "blasting and destroying the places of amusement, immorality, and sin... and attacking vital economic centers" as desired targets of the organization.
