Yes, of course. But we keep complaining about their broken immigration system, again and again as well.
At least these people are doing something about it, right?
I hope and pray that everything will turn out fine and that CIR will finally be materialized in the coming months.
It is not a bad starter for a lucky friday the 13th. ![]()

Obama, Hispanic Dems to huddle on immigration
Excerpts:
Hispanic Democrats will have their first West Wing meeting with President Obama on Wednesday morning to discuss immigration reform, according to Democratic sources.
The meeting is the first face-to-face sit-down between Obama and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) since the president was sworn in. Some in the CHC have recently expressed frustration that Obama has not talked more about immigration in his first two months in office.

I read this great news just minutes ago, and yes! there's hope.
To my fellow aspirants, let's join in prayers that something positive will come up after todays meeting. Good to know there are people who understands the real situation. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Hi T-cell! please keep us posted. Thank you so much!

I'll keep everyone posted on both the Comprehensive Immigration Reform and the separate stand-alone bill specific for nurses.
For those who wants to track the progress of CIR, pls. stay tune on this specific thread.
Once the separate stand-alone bill specific for nurses gets introduced I will create a separate thread just specific for it so that this thread about CIR would not go off-topic.
UPDATE:
| Obama to address immigration reform in coming months |
President Barack Obama will present plans for immigration reform this year, Hispanic lawmakers said Wednesday after strategic talks at the White House.
Obama "was clear and eloquent and determinate to let us know that we are all together in the route of comprehensive immigration reform," Democratic lawmaker Luis Gutierrez told reporters after the discussion between the president and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC).
Obama will convene a public forum on the issue "probably in two months," according to New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez.

I hope they will also focus on overhauling the legal immigration system, for the good of the legal immigrants who have waited patiently in line; not just the illegals.
Hello.
It is seemingly true that moment in time the Comprehensive Immigration Reform will finally be tackled by Pres. Obama with his US lawmakers.
Promises has been laid for the serious reagrd of the matter. This indeed brings another hope to everyone. I agree with sir tabachingDJ, complete overhauling is much needed at this time.
I wonder what comprises the CIR. I hope and pray that through this reform, it will also pave the way for a successful entry of Loyal immigrant aspirant Nurses who've been in the pipeline for years now. We can't wait for ages.
Otherwise, let us pray that separate legislation/s such as nursing shoratge relief or re-opening of schedule A category for nurses/PTs will pass through as well this year.
Keeping my fingers cross still.
God Bless everyone.

I think a separate stand-alone bill specific for nurses will still be introduced so that even if there will be no CIR this year something is there for nurses. If CIR somehow goes through then the separate bill for nurses can just be absorbed by the CIR.
Let's hope for the best.
UPDATE:
Immediately after President Obama met with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, he then went on a town hall meeting at Costa Mesa county, CA and re-affirms his commitment to comprehensive immigration reform.
Yes I second the motion. They should uphold what is right and not what i popular. They should not give way to partisan politics but the right thing to do.
Hi there folks, We're all eyes and ears on whats gonna happen with CIR soon, but pardon me for being ignorant about CIR, but can i ask what exactly will the CIR bring to us nurses waiting for visas? How will it benefit us? Thanks for sharing the knowledge..

Well, I think it's anyone's guess if we nurses will be included in the CIR or not at this point. Pres Obama didn't mention anything about legal skilled immigration in the video clip above, maybe because it depends on his audience and what they want to hear.
Like what t-cell mentioned, I do hope if we are not included in the CIR or if CIR won't push through this year, there would be a stand-alone bill for us.
I think the focus of the CIR will be more on getting those illegal aliens who are already in USA gain a legal immigrant status.
But COMPRHENSIVE as it is, I hope it also implies that our sorrow being on the long wait for the green card will also properly be addressed.
Let's bank more on the creation of a stand-alone bill specifically for us. If a bill is raised way before the CIR is materialized, then as what t-cell have said, it can just be absorbed or carried over with the CIR.
Keeping fingers crossed still
God Bless
