hi! I know this is sort of an easy question but I need help regarding my visa screen application.. It's quite confusing since I dont have anyone to ask regarding this. Im using my NCLEX and IELTS...

In the "Request For Validation of Registration/License For VisaScreen Fis FORM" that I have to give to PRC, why is it that the date of my licensure of exam is the date of my NCLEX exam? It's supposed to be the date of the NLE exam, right? Im about to print it but I got confused because the PRC license number is based on my NLE but the exam date was wrong.. Am I making sense here? smile Anyway,if you get what im talking about, pls help.........

Hello.  Long time, no post. smile

Your post is a bit confusing as well but I'll try to understand it.

Pls. correct me if I'm wrong, why is there already a date on the form? On-line?  Someone or an agency did it for you?

If I were you, to make things simple just print an empty "Request For Validation of Registration/License For VisaScreen FORM" on page 19: http://www.cgfns.org/sections/programs/vs/

And fill it up yourself, handwritten.  When you submit that to PRC, someone from PRC will fill up the 2nd part of that form handwritten anyway and dry-sealed.

P.S. Congrats on passing the NCLEX and IELTS.  You never mentioned it here that you will be taking those.

( Oh thanks tcell.. yes, long time,no post.. I'm working in the rural area so thats why i rarely have time to post..but Im just here,lurkingsmile.. )

I know my post is quite confusing..I dont know how to explain it.. Yep, I tried filling up the online application..I thought it will make things faster..Some items on the REQUEST FOR VALIDATION OF REGSITRATION and REQUEST FOR  ACEDEMIC RECORDS were automatically filled up ..So that's why i encountered some problems with exam dates and all that.. Im doing the visa screen on my own.I havent yet found any agency for me but im on my search already.  Most agencies I've inquired wanted applicants to have the visa screen already...And thanks..yup,i passed my exams since last year.Just that I am too slow to start my US application ...

I guess you're right..I'll just print the blank forms then..Less headache..Thanks! grin

Hi!

I am on the process of completing the Visa Screen online. My questions are:

1. What do i put in the NOn-profession post secondary related education? Right after my secondary school, I went directly to the BSN Program. It states that the Non-profession post secondary related education should not be related to healthcare. When left blank, I can't move on to the next step without filling up this category.

Here's my case: I spent the first 2 years of BSN in TUA and the last 2 years in AU. I do not know if I should put TUA under NOn-profession post secondary related education. To which school do i give the ACADEMIC RECORD REQUEST? Is it in AU only or both schools?

2. Aside from the PRC, should I also give the LICENSE VALIDATION REQUEST to CA Board of Registered NUrsing?

I know this is easy questions, but I am confused! Thank you for the help! :-)

Welcome to www.foreign-nurse.lefora.com Ekay. Nice to have you here with us.

First I would like to ask what prompted or made you decide to apply for a visa screen certificate at this point? Is your Priority date is at a verge of becoming current? Or is your IELTS expiring so soon? or simply you want to apply it now for no significant reasons?

I would like to remind you that we are still on RETROGRESSION. Aside from that, I want to let you know that the Visa Screen Certificate is only valid for five years from the time of issuance. Furthermore, it is only needed at the time of visa interview at the embassy level.  Therefore, if you have a PD of 2007-2009 and if you think you are still far from that point (visa interview), I suggest that you delay applying for the Visa Screen certificate unless you are trying to cathcup something like IELTS nearing to expire.
$$$
If in case you are still decided to apply for VSC now, I suggest that you go for the conventional paper-based method instead since it is more easy and convenient than applying online.  Application forms are readily available for printing at the CGFNS website. I've come to know some members who encountered same problem and ended up applying using the conventional method.

Since you took your Nursing education in two schools, the request for academic records must be filled-up by both schools unless the subjects taken in your previous school had integrated into the TOR of the school where you completed your nursing program. Again it must be clearly shown in your Transcript of Records.

I am not sure if  California state board of nursing should also complete the license validation request aside from our PRC. But logic says that if you are licensed with Cali, then it should be completed also. Let us wait for Tcell's opinion on this.

God Bless you and more power.

I would also go for the conventional paper application.  Also agree to delay applying for it and taking the IELTS (unless you need for application to go to Australia or Canada) as many people are having their Visa Screen Certificates (5 yrs) and IELTS (2 yrs, usually) expiring.

-----

If you applied to be registered in CA and already passed the NCLEX, yes you also need to to do that.

There are two ways to do that:

1) Send in the LICENSE VALIDATION REQUEST to CA BRN and a bank draft of US$60

2) Just make a request to a service called "Copy of Test Results" for $10.

    - For the past years, CGFNS/ICHP has always accepted this in lieu of option 1 since it's
basically proof of passing the NCLEX with a statement saying you meet all licensure
requirements except having a US SSN w/c then doubles up as explanation why you don't have
      a license in CA.

However, there have been unconfirmed reports lately that option 2 is not anymore being
accepted.  I have my doubts on that but best if you contact CGFNS/ICHP directly and ask if still
accept that.  You won't go wrong with option 1 of course but you get to save a lot for doing
option 2 and even get 1-2 more ($10 each) copies to be sent to you for future purposes.

**See the misc fees:
  http://www.rn.ca.gov/about_us/fees.shtml#ren
**Also, pls go to a sticky in the General Foreign Nurses Discussion category called 'Applying to CA BRN' to read more detailed discussions regarding anything about CA BRN.

P.S.
If anyone has a recent experience with option 2, whether positive or negative, please don't hesitate to share it here.  Thanks.

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply.. Thank you so much for the very informative and mind opening advice. :-) You may be wondering why I am doing this Visa Screen when apparently, it's not gonna work out because of this recession in the U.S.. Here's the situation, I was informed by a lawyer that I should go through a Visa Screen first before anything else because it's like a pre-requisite for the working visa to be processed. Right away, I searched for it and tried to fill it up online. Indeed it was a difficult way to do because of the automatic "test dates" and "addressess" which are not intended for a particular entry. I have taken into consideration every detail that you guys told me and I kind of did the online thing and the paperwork thing. I sent the original forms to the schools and to the licensing authority in the Philippines. But the original order, I made online. I did not print the ones that they told me to print, doing so would mess up all the information on my application. Do you think I am doing the right thing? I'd like to do it online for the reason that it is much convenient and faster if you are going to check how your order will be, follow ups would be easier and all those stuffs.

Thank you very much Nurse Idol and T-Cell. I appreciate all the advices. :-) Goodluck with everyone!

Hello Pertune.

When will your VISA SCREEN CERTIFICATE expire? It is advisable that you apply for VSC renewal at least 6 months before the expiration date.  Just a friendly reminder.

Keep your fingers crossed. I know you have done your IELTS well same as you did the first time you took it.  You need to have a total bandsocre of at least 6.5, with at least 7 in spoken english.

Let's hope for the best.  God Bless you Pertune.
