hello all,
Nice to always have to read these threads they greatly encourage me knowing am not alone in this long wait.My priority date is march 2005, but something intresting just happened and my recuiter sent a mail that: please read below the mail

I want to update you as to what is going on withImmigration.

Retrogression will be lifted possibly as early as December1, 2009 – we will receive an additional 50 thousand unused visa numbers, just for nurses and their immediate dependents (spouse and children) who willbe exempt from the annual quota until 2012.

Your case is at the National Visa Center – andordinarily, now s the time that the Hospital Sponsor is responsible for payingus the initial upfront costs of $4500.00 to pay our attorney and the initialfiling fees.

HOWEVER – because hospitals have been waiting in somecases since 2006 (just before we went into retrogression) for their nurses, noone is at present paying these up front costs.

Sadly, I can no longer afford to lay out these costs for ournurses anymore, as we too haven’t gotten any nurses in since December 1,2006 when retrogression started.

In order to be able to continue processing our nurses’cases, we need a deposit of $4000.00,once you arrive and start working, the hospital pays us and you will bereimbursed these expenses.
Please read the attached document carefully – if youwish to continue with your filing, please email me stating that you have readand agree to the terms and condition
Has anyone any info as above? can you help verify the authenciy of this info? beside with the economic meltdown this is alot for me to pay.........

That was a very interesting e-mail.

To be honest, I have not heard that retrogression will be lifted by Dec. 1, 2009.  I wish it's true but I have not yet heard anything about such news and as you know we see to it that we are up-to-date here.

Since you are concern with cost and the veracity of the news, the best you can do (at least in my humble opinion) is to wait for that big news of possible lifting of the retrogression before you
give any "deposit".

Such news is BIG news and it will surely not escape any nursing forum, blogs, and immigration  websites that caters to such events and there has been no such news of any impending lifting of retrogression as of yet.

Besides, from the numerous versions of bills to lift retrogression almost all has a language for the total visas to be evenly distributed in a span of 3 years.  So, if indeed there will be a bill that will be approved, there is no way you can miss out not knowing and no way you will be by-passed for 3 years unless you are living in a cave.

P.S. Pls. wait for other opinions from other members.

Hi! I just would like to know if you are already documentarily qualified?  If yes, then you better asked what the $4000 is for, because if you are already documentarily qualified then all the fees except the medical(which you pay yourself at St.Luke's during your schedule).  If this is the case better asked first why you have to pay $4000?   What costs are they talking about?  If you can ask also the breakdown of these costs.  Looks like the agency/recruiter is trying to run a scam.  Be careful before giving them any money especially that much money.

Hi, ofako.  If you trust your agency or whoever is handling your case, then you can consider their proposal to you.  Maybe, you can make a counter-proposal that you give 50% first and give the other half after your passport has been duly stamped with an immigrant visa or after you have been interviewed in the US embassy/consulate. Anyway, they are projecting on to you that they are sure that retrogression will be lifted very soon so there should be no problems if they receive the the other half only after you got you embassy interview or got your passport duly stamped already.

As for the Dec. 1, 2009 prediction they mentioned that won't be happening anymore per the latest Dec. VB.

Goodluck, with whatever you will decide.
