I know some of you may be needing to renew their VisaScreen Certificates already, so I made this thread so that we can post questions regarding it here and for other members as well to share their experience with it.

So, please anyone who have questions regarding the VisaScreen renewal process or wants to share their experiences and generally just wants to lend a helping hand please post it all on this particualr thread.

Thanks.

One thing I want to share is to heed their recommendations of starting early or at least starting with an adequate amount of time still left with your expiration.

Note that you need to re-do the English exam and send them a new one for the renewal.  Also, note that they emphasized taking the English exams again on the renewal application packet and is one of the reasons why they recommend starting the renewal process early, so that you allow ample time for yourself in taking a fresh English Proficiency examination and passing it.

CGFNS' requirements for the English exams in all their services that requires it was that it should not be more than 2 years old from the time it was submitted together with either the CGFNS Certification or the NCLEX exam.

The VisaScreen Certification actually, in a way was able to extend that 2 year validity to 5 years if you think about it.  As the VisaScreen nears expiration, then that English exam result would be deemed too old already.

There are other requirements on the renewal process but none of them would take much time compared to re-doing the English proficiency exams and passing it.  There is also no guarantee that you can pass it again just like that, even if you had good scores from the previous one.

So, definitely heed their calls of starting early just to be sure.

Welcome to the forum, njamuna. smile

Unfortunately, yes you have to re-take the IELTS when you will renew your Visa Screen certificate.

What's your PD?  Pray that you won't need to extend it anymore in May 2010.

If you have time, pls. kindly share your PD and other details in our PD tracker: http://foreign-nurse.lefora.com/2008/09/22/200420052006-priority-date-tracker/page21/

Thanks for registering and hope you become a regular poster here. wink

Thanks for the information. The question that I would like to ask, I have already applied for visa and it is waiting endlessly due to visa retrogression. As I complied  with all the requirements needed do become eligible to practice nursing in USA, am I held responsible to redo tests and as well pay reapplication for visa screening for no fault of mine. What if US govt will never release Visas in such of the case will the ICHP refund all the fees.

The answer to that is unfortunately another yes.  It is your responsibility to re-do and pay for all renewal fees.  No, ICHP will not refund anything.  CGFNS/ICHP is actually a private company and not directly related with the US Gov't.  They are a 3rd party company that do services that U.S. employers, U.S. Board of Nursing and the US Gov't may require an applicant.

The only fees directly related to the US Federal Gov't is those thru USCIS, NVC and the US embassies/consulates.  Even then, if for example any of your petitions got denied for one reason or another or from any stage of the whole process the fees are cannot be refunded.  The fees are for the payment of the service/processing.  It does not guarantee or hold them to give you a visa.

It is the same as if someone took up nursing as their course but could not get a job afterwards.  You cannot ask your nursing school to refund your tuition fees because you are paying for their services to educate you but does not guarantee a job waiting for you afterwards.

Thanks for your effort to answer my queries.I think you can understand my position. I am in NVC stage now, because of retrogression for 3 years Iam unable to go to USA. I completed all the requirements for US immigration in time.

My query is that, my papers are in immigration, somewhere i have read that if your papers are in immigration no need to re-take IELTS for visa screen renewal, is it so..

I have not read anything like that.  Would you mind posting the link to where you read it?

I think such impt. information would have been supplied on CGFNS' website if it were so and as well as on the Visa Screen Renewal application packet.

I guess, the best way to find out is contacting ICHP and asking them directly.  And if you are going to do that, hope you don't mind posting their reply to your query back here.

Thanks.

Hi Njamuna.

We are all concern with our visa screen nearing to get expired.  For visa screen renewal, we really do need to have an IELTS of less than two years old.

The visa screen certificate is one of the documents that we need to present before the consul on the day of our visa interview.

As far as I know, there are no excuses, an expired visa screen during the interview is null and void, and visa screen cannot be renewed without a valid IELTS regardless on what stage you are in on your immigration processing.

Can you direct us the site where you've read that info? Unless ICHP division says so, what you've read is plainly a hearsay.

God Bless you.

Hi Jeny

I assume you are planning to have it renewed now because you still have a valid IELTS with you.  Am I right? Just to answer your question, YES you can renew it now if you wish to.

Can we know what is your Priority date?

October 2010 is still a bit far, who knows you'll get current before your VSC expires.

The best time to renew your VSC ( if there's a need to ) also largely depends on when will your IELTS expire.

Renewing your VSC 6 to 8 months prior to your IELTS getting expired is a safe thing to do.

God Bless you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.  smile

Majority of people currently outside the Philippines let their immediate relatives do the leg work for them.

However, since your visa screen certificate is being kept by immigration in the US Embassy, my suggestion is to contact the US Embassy in Manila and inquire if you still have to renew it.

Who knows, maybe there is a possibility that you don't need to renew it anymore due to the fact that you were already interviewed and all and the only reason you are not in the US right now is because your case unfortunately did not make it at the cut-off of releasing of visa numbers.

Have you contacted them and asked if you still need to renew it ?

I already tried to call NVC and they've advised me to inquire in the Immigration office. I would like to know the contact number of the Immigration department  to clarify my case and ask about my visa screen certificate that was not given back to me. Please send me the contact details so I can decide whether I still have to renew it or not. Thanks for the reply. More power!

Hello Dyorlaigh.

Obviously the number I have provided is a PLDT hotline for US Embassy Manila, Immigrant visa section.  I haven't able to find out any other number to reach the embassy.  Since you are in Saudi Arabia, it is not a heavy load to ask any from your family members to call the embassy in behalf and inquire about this. I presume they will provide the needed info to a third party as this is not a very confidential concern to raise.

Just let them ask if an expired Visa screen certificate that is with the Embassy already, still needs to be renewed.  Or if they'll insist that the concern applicant must call them directly, then your relative can ask the embassy for an alternative contact number, the one that can be reach by calling from Middle East/ overseas.

Hope it helps. God Bless you.

Hello Saggy. Welcome to www.foreign-nurse.lefora.com

When did you take the CGFNS exam? Is it exactly two years ago? or just about to get two years old?

Letting you know that the CGFNS exam alone will really expire if you wont partner it with an english proficiency exam within two years from the time you took and passed the CGFNS.  The CGFNS will not in anyway issue an applicant with a CGFNS certificate until the applicant will be able to prove that he is also proficient with english language.

In the event that the applicant failed to pass the english exam within two years from the time he/she passed the cgfns exam, then the CGFNS exam expires.

A CGFNS certificate DOES NOT expire.

Here is a simple formula:

CGFNS exam alone = Expires in two years time.

CGFNS exam + English exam ( IELTS, TOEFL+TSE) = CGFNS Certificate

CGFNS certificate = No expiry
________________________________

CGFNS visa screen certificate is another thing and is primarily required for immigration.  It is advisable to have it secured once the applicant is nearing to have his/her consular interview.  For one to be able to secure a CGFNS visa screen certificate, one must have a CGFNS certificate AND OR an NCLEX-RN passing letter and a valid  english exam.

CGFNS certificate and CGFNS Visa Screen certificate are two different documents. It must not be mistakenly identified as same.

Hope this helps. God Bless you.
