It is very unfortunate that some review centers or reviewers don't even emphasize to just follow the official Test Plan prepared by NCSBN themselves. Worst, some even make up their own Test Plan.
This is why you may heard of stories of why majority of people who self-studies, spends only more than enough time to review but still passes and using just one main review book they bought themselves while you keep hearing of stories of people who had "extensive" review in a review center and reviewed using numerous books but still failed in the end.
STUDY SMARTER, NOT HARDER ! ! !

**FYI: There is still no 2008 Test Plan for NCLEX-RN and traditionally there is not much changes on annual test plans. However, always update yourselves with what is new. Once there is a 2008 Test Plan for NCLEX-RN, we will update you on this thread and note any changes, if any at all. Goodluck.
Saunder's Compre + Test plan + Mosby's Prioritization, Delegation helped me pass in NCLEX Cali. Hope this helps you guys viewing this. :)
i was banged with endcrine cases like DM and thyroid crisis. i talked to 2 fellow test takers during that time and they said that their exam too was full of those cases.
of course let's add their favorite cystic fibrosis, delegation, prioritization, some OB and newborn conditions and the TOF
Nursing is a broad field.Joining a review center is always a good way to increase or otherwise refresh your memory unfortunately they give out general information and more often than not they forget to really assess the reviewers strentgh and weakness areas.Self reviewing on the other hand is much more personal and you can pace yourself, it will also make you be aware which subjects u need to focus on as you go along with your review.Either way one is left with the idea of whether they have covered evrtyhing and are ready to sit in the exam. Answer to that as personal experience is you can never cover evrything. The most important thing to do is read ,read and read more :) really hard work but its the only way you can increase your knowledge and not forget things, have self discipline by sitting down and time urself at least to answer one question per minute at a minumim of 75 questions and increase the number as you move closer to your exam date.(You know why),I had a colleague who was well experienced and very knowledgeable but was really lazy in reading and if she does read she would only answer 50-60 maximum per seating , exam date came and done with her story came said she had a bad headache ont eh exam date when computer was still asking question after 100 points,(it owuld ahev been a different story if she practised herself to answer more question) and your guess is as good as mine as to the result of her exam.Never think that you can always retake the exam once you failed why not think do your very best the first time and have a positive result.Sacrifice a few months of your time by reading/studying whether 2/4/8 hours everyday/otherday/or 3x weekly and reap the reward in a lifetime. As the saying goes do your best and God will the rest !
(P.S.) I passed mine first take took my review for 6 months self studying while juggling my full time nursing job-how i did it i bought 4 books and studied online all of which are question answer type review materials with rationales per question easier to understand as i never been good in reading through the nursing areas i.e Med surg, pedia etc.., remember NCLEX is more on what you do in teh hospital like prioritizing, precautions, prevention, pt. mixing and answer options all looks right.US practice are more or less teh same in Phils practice with a bit of difference so keep those items in mind,be glad to share those differences n book titles with you guys just leave me a message and will get back at you!
Good Evening! I am scheduled to take the NCLEX-RN in June. I read in the NCSBN that only the Philippine Passport is a valid identification card acceptable at the test center. The problem is my passport is with the US EMBASSY Manila waiting for the VISA. As much as possible I don't want to pull it out since the PDs are really unpredictable. I know I should be asking these with Pearson Vue but just the same I am hoping somebody in this forum might have had this same dilemma. Is there any exemption to that rule? I have my SSS, Driver Lisence, and PRC Card, Voter's ID to replace the Passport.
Thank you! Please help.![]()
